Charleston, South Carolina

Day 1: Arrival in Charleston

Welcome to South Carolina! Transfer to your hotel and get settled in. Then, the rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore the city.

Day 2: Sightseeing tour of Charleston

Included meals: Breakfast, Welcome dinner

Enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the city’s landmarks and surrounding plantations.

  • Pass by the Old Citadel, the College of Charleston, and the Four Corners of Law.
  • View the Battery, Rainbow Row, and the Charleston Museum.
  • Admire the Old Exchange Building and City Market.

This afternoon head outside of Charleston to visit the Middleton Place plantation and gardens.

  • Discover this National Historic Landmark on a guided tour of the House Museum.
  • Walk through the gardens, which sit on a sprawling 65-acres of Lowcountry land.
  • Enter the carefully preserved Eliza House and learn more about the lives of the Middleton slaves.

Travel to the charming city of Beaufort on Port Royal Island.

Then, continue on to Savannah, Georgia and enjoy a free evening in the city, or add an excursion.

Day 5: Sightseeing tour of Savannah & the Pin Point Heritage

Learn about Savannah’s storied past as you follow a local guide on a sightseeing tour.

  • Pass landmarks such as Forsyth Park and River Street.
  • View the Waving Girl statue, the Cotton Exchange, and Colonial Park Cemetery.

Head just outside of Savannah for a visit to the Pin Point Heritage Museum to learn about the Lowcountry Gullah Geechee culture.

  • Immerse yourself in the museum which focuses on celebrating the lives, work, and history of the Gullah Geechee people who live here and highlight their craft and culinary work, such as the storytelling traditions and rice-based cuisine.
  • Learn how the Gullah Geechee people trace their ancestry back to West Africa, before their ancestors were forcibly brought to America and enslaved.
  • See how they developed a native creole language of the same name, as well as distinct music, art, and traditions.
